Mitsubishi have made a dramatic
u-turn in their policy regarding the importing of their high performance vehicles.
Ralliart Inc., Mitsubishis Motorsport division, have licensed Co-ordSport Limited to use
the Ralliart UK trading title. Co-ordSport, based in Stafford, have been specialist
suppliers of Mitsubishi rally cars and providing technical support for the past 10 years,
so they are well suited to perform their additional role of officially importing
Mitsubishis high performance road cars. Along with the FTO GPX, they will import the
latest Lancer Evolution VI GSR, the Galant VR-4 Type S, the Colt Cyborg ZR and the Legnum
VR-4 Type S. Auto Express magazine has also stated that they will also import the
3rd generation FTO in the year 2000, after its official launch at the Tokyo Motor Show in
October 1999.
The current UK FTO will not be a model specifically designed for the UK market, but the GPX version will be the only model available (although this one of the models that come with the MIVEC engine). Also the only option is an electric sunroof (£400), rather than a catalog of options available when buying one from Japan. However, this is good news for someone looking for a new FTO, as it will be available through any main dealership, backed by Mitsubishis standard 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. The current list price of a GPX is from £22975, excluding registration, RFL and delivery.
For more details, contact your nearest Mitsubishi dealership (find your local dealer using the locator on Mitsubishis UK web site), or Co-ordSport / Global Performance Limited on 01384 243363 (new car sales). More contact numbers available in the 'Reference' area, under 'Mitsubishi'.

1999
Autosport International Exhibition, NEC, Birmingham.
In fact, there is little changed from the Japanese spec GPX - the reported differences include a single larger bore exhaust (as opposed to the normal twin pipes), seperate fog lamp (included as part of the bumper) and an uprated battery (to offset the UKs cold starting problems in Winter!)
